What stays on your device only

Your name, target grade, exam date, focus note, theme, study environment, progress history, weak-point tracking, and cost/usage logs are stored in your browser’s local storage. None of this is sent to our servers unless you explicitly choose to link an account (“Save Your Lab”). Clearing your browser data or using a different device/browser starts fresh — see the notice shown during setup and in the progress panel.

What is sent to make the product work

• Question generation and marking:the paragraph/content you submit and the answers you type are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate questions and produce examiner-style marking. This is the core function of the product and cannot be turned off while using it.
• Anonymous usage limiting: a signed, random browser identifier (not tied to your name or any personal detail) is stored in a cookie so free daily generation/evaluation limits can be enforced even if local storage is cleared.
• Evaluator dispute reports: if you report a marking issue, a summary (subject, paper type, score, reason, and a one-way code that identifies the question without containing its text) is always included. The actual question/answer/mark-scheme text is only included if you explicitly opt in via the consent toggle on that report form.
• Beta feedback: if you answer an in-app feedback prompt (clarity/value/willingness-to-pay), that response is stored locally and, if configured, relayed to the team.
• Anonymous product analytics:when enabled, QUASAR EDU sends anonymous, structured event names (e.g. “generation completed”) with no free text, no session replay, and no identify() call linking events to a person.

Uploads (text, photos, PDFs) and OCR

When you add your own content or questions, you can paste text or choose a PDF or image. Text is read out of PDFs in your browser, and scanned PDF pages are read with OCR (Tesseract), which also runs in your browser. The extracted text is then sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for question generation or marking, as above. In Upload Your Q&A, a photo of a question or answer is also read with OCR in your browser: the image itself is not sent or stored, only the text you can see and edit before checking. When you generate questions from your own content, an image you choose is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API as an image so its content can be read. Please do not upload anything containing personal details (names, student numbers, faces).

If you are signed in and choose to save an item to My Content, the extracted text, the file name and the original file are stored in your account (Supabase) so you can reuse them. Guests’ uploads are not stored on our servers.

How long data is kept

On-device data stays until you clear your browser data. Account data, including My Content items and uploaded files, stays until you delete it or delete your account. Marking reports and feedback, when delivery is configured, are relayed to the QUASAR team and used to find and fix marking problems.

Export and delete

If you have an account, you can download a copy of your saved data or permanently delete your account from the account panel. Deleting your account removes your saved progress, your My Content items and uploaded files, and your Premium link record. Your Gumroad purchase record is held by Gumroad, not by us.

Students under 18

Most QUASAR EDU users are school students. No account is needed to practise, and we do not ask for your age, school or contact details to use the free product. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or guardian before creating an account or buying Premium. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete an account at the address below.

If you choose “Save Your Lab”

Creating an account (via Supabase) is entirely optional and lets your progress follow you across devices. Only what your account explicitly saves is stored server-side; deleting your account removes that data. This includes, per subject, your practice progress: which questions you attempted, your marks, which ideas you missed or repaired, and review dates. The text of your answers is not stored there.

Premium payments

Premium purchases are processed entirely by Gumroad. QUASAR EDU never sees or stores your card details — only a license key used to verify your entitlement.
