Sexual Reproduction in Humans
Human reproduction follows one continuous pathway too: the reproductive organs produce the gametes, the gametes meet and fuse at fertilisation, and what forms afterwards has to be kept alive and supported until birth. The three pages below take that pathway in order.
Cambridge starts this section with structure — the male and female reproductive systems and what each labelled part actually does — before moving to the gametes those systems produce and why sperm and egg cells are built so differently from each other. From there it’s fertilisation itself, then the sequence from zygote to embryo to implantation, and finally the structures — placenta, umbilical cord, amniotic sac and amniotic fluid — that keep a developing fetus alive and protected.
The recurring trap across all three pages is precision about location and sequence: fertilisation happens in the oviduct, not the uterus; implantation happens afterwards, in the uterus, not at the moment of fertilisation; and the placenta exchanges substances between two blood supplies that never actually mix. Getting these locations and this order exactly right is most of what separates a full-mark answer from a partial one here.

Core or Supplement?
Both reproductive systems, sperm and egg cell adaptations, fertilisation in humans, and the early development and fetal support structures are Core. Only placental exchange — the detail of exactly which substances cross between mother and fetus, and in which direction — is Supplement, covered as its own section on the fertilisation, implantation and pregnancy page.
